The fabulous 1930s Art Deco area is full of incredible pastel colored hotels and other buildings. We're one of the best of them! The Welcome Centre at 10th Street and Ocean Drive can take you on a guided walking tour of this area to find out a bit more about the history of the buildings.
The Design District is an up and coming area just north of Downtown Miami and is filled up with art galleries and showrooms with contemporary and traditional furniture.
Lincoln Road is home to many art galleries and theatres.
Wolfsonian Museum - This exhibit is set in a remarkable Art Deco house, and is home to a permanent collection of the possessions of wealthy Mitchell Wolfson Junior and also visiting exhibitions of all kinds that change every 6 or 7 months. It is located on the corner of Washington Avenue and 10th Street, and entrance is $5.
The Barnacle State Historic Site – The Barnacle is home to the oldest residence in Miami, still on its original foundations, from 1891. They put on frequent events, such as the Barnacle Moonlight Concert.
Villa Viscaya – This stunning Italian Renaissance-style villa, complete with turrets and fountain-filled gardens, is a wonderful place to relax and marvel at the architecture. Entrance fee: $10
Miami Beach Botanical Garden, located near the Convention Centre and Holocaust Monument, is a soothing and tranquil place. It even has a Japanese Garden, and the admission is free!
Calle Ocho Cuban Festival – This is the incredible culmination and grand finale of the Carnival Miami in Little Havana, down on 8th Street. There are plenty of Latin entertainment and performances, and food from all over South America.
African Heritage Cultural Arts Center – With a 300-seat music hall, the Narcisse Performing Arts Center and a 1,900 square foot dance studio, there is always something exciting happening at this must-see facility. There are also classrooms for photography, ceramics, painting, band and chorus.
