Back to things to do in Miami

Sport - for the active types!

If lying about on a beach all day and generally lazing just isn’t your style, we are delighted to tell you that Miami has loads of options for sports of all kinds!  Here is just a choice selection...

  • Rollerblading!  You’ll see the keen bladders everywhere: along the boardwalk, along Lincoln road, in Lummus Park... not too expensive to hire for the day, and tons of fun!
  • Volleyball – beach volleyball is fantastic, so if you have a group of friends or just feel like joining in a game, head on down the beach until you hit 9th Street and you’ll find several nets up for your enjoyment!
  • Scuba Diving and Snorkelling is particularly popular in Key Largo, and the South Beach Divers take expeditions out there almost daily.  Remember your diving licence!
  • Jet Skis – zoom around the water!  The very south end of South Beach will rent you one for about $40-50 and hour.
  • Mountain biking and Kayaking – Oleta River State Park is a fantastic expanse of wood trails and mangrove forests, perfect for those who like their sport a little more individual!  You can rent equipment (crash helmets compulsory for mountain biking) and you can even stay there overnight in cabins if you wish!
  • If Kite Surfing and Wind Surfing is more your scene, head on out to Key Biscayne, and book yourself into a class or just rent equipment if you’re already a pro!
  • Golf – There are many inexpensive courses in Miami for you to while away the hours...
  • Watching Sport – Or if you enjoy watching others do all the work, Miami Heat basketball games aren’t far away and cost anything from $20 to $150.  Up to you!
